I’ve been busy working through two online certificates that I highly recommend to my librarian friends and all educators. The @One Certificate in Online Teaching Principles is just one of several that @One offers, depending on your level of online teaching expertise. The classes are 4 weeks long and the instructors are faculty at the CA community colleges for the most part. While it caters to the CA community college system, I believe instructors teaching online at all levels of higher education (and using Canvas) can really benefit.
The Creative Commons Certificate for Librarians (they have another one for Educators) is a 10 week class that is very detailed and an extensive dive into how the Creative Commons licenses work with existing copyright law. It isn’t just for US librarians — CC licenses work with copyright around the globe! I’m at week 5 of the class and while it is a lot of work, I’m seeing how it can help me explain copyright and CC licenses to my colleagues and students at my institution.
I created this PDF handout on the two certificates. Let me know if you have any questions. This handout is not yet WCAG 2.0 accessible.
